Hi Guys, I'm trying something new and helping a local dirt racer build a converterless powerglide. We are trying to do this on a budget and want to do as much as we can without purchasing a "kit" like the TCI circlematic valve body or anything similar.
I have a good idea of how I want to go about this, but I'm looking here for confirmation (or for someone to tell me i'm a dumbass and my idea wont work)
For starters, I know that to accomplish this, I'll need to bleed pressure off in low and reverse circuits. I'm going to just drill and tap each valve body "worm trail" for a holley jet so we can tune the amount of bleed needed.
My big questions are the following:
What can we do to STOP the circuit leak in low gear while we run high gear. The band is still supplied low gear oil even when in high gear and I don't want a huge circuit leak the whole time...i think it would be bad for the life of the high clutches
Does anyone else build their own direct drive powerglide and would you be willing to share some tips/tricks?

Better off using a ball valve that tve driver can turn on and off. Check rules ro make sure its legal
