Depends on rules what are you allowed to run as far as motor? specs or CU inch limit? size of track? Can you run a 9 in rear end?

A .066 350 has won us most of our races in any class turning 6400 to 8700 rpms with any trany and gear from 543-713s, just load the wagon!

There's an old adage in racing "There's no replacement for displacement". Except that in dirt track racing, we like to keep the weight down and to the rear - hence the popularity of the small block chevy. If there are no displacement rules, a 410 sbc with the highest compression and the best heads, carb, intake, exhaust and cam the rules will allow. If money's an issue, dollar for dollar you're not gonna beat a 350 sbc.

When technology wins over all they can muster, cheating all they can too, Its hard for me to understand! I'm still asking why I love a stock stroke, weight crank, rods, and pistons, oil pump, and pan! Its the top end that counts in my world! Give me a de-stroked 400, 384 any day with ice on the cast intake or with 361 rules a.066 350 doing the same! Flow to the max, low compression but with expansion and low heat it burns longer- thus my stroke gain with out cubes! My fire power will jump 1.6 inches to un-grounded pins! This gets it burning at the correct speed but takes 60 degrees of timing because of the coldness of fuel and air to time it To the max spot by ear! It gets the job done cheaply with less to buy like racing fuel! Cubes+50 and same tune is no fair comparison with a 1,000 extra pounds added!
