What is your motor built to turn? On a 3/8 track, a 6.20 ought to get you to around 7000 rpm. Never heard of a 3/4 mile dirt track...

We run a .610 mile track and run between a 4.86 to 5.38 depending on track conditions. turning around 6800-7000 RPM. I would put you somewhere around 5.14 depending on how many RPMs you can turn.

I know my motor can push 7000 it's got a little more than a stock 350. I'm going to run at butler speedway I know it's a big track maybe it's a 3/8 mile, I'm still new to this all about seat time.

Air may be a factor when getting up to speed on a longer track! You want it to stay in your peak pulling range! We went from a 7.13 at 8300 on a 1/4 mile dirt down gradually to a 526 with a Doug Nash, 2 speed Two Quick trany and was much faster at 6900 and still carried the left front on our home built limited late at 2468 lbs. with our home built 366 CI motor! 2 gears about a thousand RPMS apart helped too! By design a 350 engine pulling range is short and must be used according to cam and degree to get it to stay with in limits. Weight factors on heavier cars will need more of both gear and range to try to find a happy spot! It took a full blown late model chassis and a 426 to out run us every week but some how it was able to manage that every race! Second place didn't seem too bad for that season! The number of approximate horses, car weight and cam specs would help me to give you a clue! We never ran much on any long tracks but in most guessing we ever did on gears we were maxed to quickly! Better to be a litte higher than needed and work on the horses to bring it up to speed! Lots of horses are just along for the ride and you have to wake them up! Check out my free horses tips to get on up to speed!
