I am running a metric chassis stock 4 link. With solid motor and trans mounts and it cracks a bellhousing every weekend. It cracks from the starter nose to the second bolt hole on the right Side every time.

Use a rubber/neoprene tranny mount. There is too much flex in the chassis to have the tranny rigidly mounted.

Polishing or rounding any square edges leaves a stronger point where stress is applied! Check drive shaft length and angles of thrust! Check other mounting bolts and frame for flex! Ft. mounts if raised may need a better brace! We have loose engine mounting bolts every week, including the three on the block! A mid-plate system is best or no solid mounts at all! We have solids with mid-plate and just square tubing bolted solid under trany to allow some flex! Too solid of a rear support will still break something if only sitting there! A steel blow-proof recommended with any standard trany! If automatic consider a added brace or cover support as used with 4 wheel use! Our standards cracked the trany at top left until leaving that bolt out or a stacked lock and flat washer spring system with some give to it! Use as little angle at trany on the shaft as possible! Check u-joints for torque curve marking locking them up! Vibrations can do weird things too! Check starter clearance to the housing for cause of stress point! Be sure the yoke slides freely!

Should it have rubber between the frame and crossmember. Or just a rubber trans mount work.

We were breaking the tranny ears until we done away with the tranny mounts altogether. haven't broken one in 8 years. put rear mounts or a mid plate on the engine and let the tranny hang in space
