Metric Monte Carlo: what measurments are used to change the car over to a narrowed rear clip. Already have a 3 link with a floater that is 58". I want to use 2"x3" tubing from where the stock frame has the lower trailing arm mounts. Would like to see a pictures of a finished clip done like this.

Sorry --I can't help you there! It will be all adjustable so just go by the jack bolts for spring locations and go with it where it has to be with the diff in place tires and all for it to be correct the first time! Is it chopped as yet???

Not chopped yet. I have a bare frame to work with, everything stripped off. I was just wondering how far in to have my 2x3 tubing. I want to start just in front of the lower trailing arm mounts. I want my springs and shocks to mount outside the 2x3 tubing closer to the wheel.

Set the diff. first and build to where it has to go from there! Just give room for J-bar if that's what your going to run! I prefer long bars all the way! Make sure you have the correct off-set rims before hand and keep your room to adjust! Build to it tucked in! I never tuck the right rear as to radical change to track stimuli chunking as I call it! Try to go for pounds changing by transfer rather that the distance in roll to get there! Don't forget to lean that right rear spring a bit!

We run 3" offset wheels all the way around, the rules say we must use same offset on every location. We cannot run a j-bar. Our panhart bar must be located behind the rearend and to the frome on the right side and not over 28" in length. The problem is the LR tire will rub the frame and the RR wil rub the roll cage. We use a lot of rear steer and that makes the car very fast in the turns. I want to change over to the 2x3 clip on the rear to help with the tire clearance. We have another frame to work with and also have a narrowed rear clip from an old sportsman car. Also know where there is a car that may be for sale that already has been clipped, the change there would be to go from a 4 link to a 3 link. A 4 link does not work near as good as a 3 link at our track.

I have won with them all! I would go wide with ones if you have threes! Most works on my set-up and we pass cars that over steer in the rear while they hike or tote the left front with ours straighter! Do you really need all that do you think? We never have while most do! I have always been different but it wins for us most any track! I use extreme caster to twist the frame and steer all fours at the same time! Transfers the pounds with out all the added movement! 1/2 inch roll out and no open rear!60-80 left rear! The steering can adjust bar angles rear and pounds to right or left rear to drive the right side or balance traction if the right bars stay ahead of the left when rolled! This is why it is leaned left with 150 lead on the left rear corner! It holds left pounds there and gains right drive with about 2 more degrees than the left! The bars adjust towards a balance and has more left rear but more right thrust by more bar angle on the right! Not moving so much allows the pull-bar angles to do the traction evenly with more ft. to rear pounds of transfer for traction! A shock and spring combo with variations and reversed preloads gives total control to the driver! I use less tuck to give a better leverage back to the springs to minimize other needs for help like off-sets!

We have tried other setups and adjusted the car to what some very fast cars are running, all of that does not work with this car and the drivers style of racing. The car is among the top cars with 3 wins and 17 top 5's in 2014. All that with a low compression engine, not low compression for 2015. The car has a lot of adjustability build in. Tried lowering the LR trailing arm 1 hole, car does not like that. We drive it off the RR more than the left and we run a full spool with 6:50 gears turning around 7,000 most of the time, have turned 7600 on a slick track. This car likes a tacky track and will stick anywhere when the track is tacky. Also we run 4" stagger with a 16" 200 spring LR, 13" 250 in RR, 1000 LF and 1100 RF. I do not have the weights with me but the car and driver seems to like a lot of rollover in the turns. Without a lot of rear steer, it has a bad push on entry and he drives very deep into the turns. Grandson runs the same class and his car is turned straight into the turns on entry, that car is completely different than my sons abd does not have as much adjustablily. They finished 2nd and 3rd in points this past year.

I understand your points in set up and their problems! If we might talk some times I have no doubt in explaining the points I may or may not in my post! They are many and simple to me may seem absurd to others un less thoroughly explained in the whys of it all! If we hadn't won so much in 4 states or been there done that before in mods and limited and able to win first night out with a new car any time of season, I would not even bother with telling my advantage! I have helped many win threw the years! So gracious as to leave our cars at home to ensure their win until next week anyhow! A lot of years with out the best of things but able to win against all odds is tuff! Lapping the field even tuff-er but the hard part is being told even legal to not come back as the rest were pissed! Tech was always fun but no one was happy with a fully legal car winning all the time! I ask them what they did for a living! Most were not tech type people! Its been my life! I understand things easily and have the practical of 35 years advantage by my era alone when you had to know and design or rebuild from scratch any thing that moves! To do this is to understand its technical points in theories to apply to what is needed! Just glad to be alive and able to help any in need! I love doing it all and winning! Engine builders hate to see me walk in the door for some reason! Most just have only to open up to be ahead in the next race! Once the reasons for every move made by design is somewhat falling in place it does get very simple as to all whys together and not a this or that to its values in working together to win! Such as 200 ft. spring variation to hold the left rear threw the cross! Its the dryslick where it matters and stays hooked tacky anyhow! Handles the same both ways! Needs not a thing changed! All by it working together not by force but by being free to adjust it self to the conditions! If slow --less steer harder more than you need by most! Middle ground to a balance to react easily from that pivot point for better transfer instead or just rolling so far before or if it happens correctly each time! Constant self-adjusting it self to the track only by steer of all fours with pounds and angles while traction angles hold true slick or not to leave you hooked up! No extreme roll out to bind in the straights or heat tires that change set-ups! Goes where ever, when ever by switching rear drive angles and pounds for correct drive steer! Drivable to a fault! Winning not much fun at this rate! Will try again with several teams this year just to still prove, even after 3 of five with a second by a 1/2 of a car length and a come from the rear 3rd by some-one I never even met who just ask for my help! It will work again this year the same as last with the follow the leader fixes out there as the have been for the last 35 years! This is what I do, what I know, and play for me! A board of Chest pieces of a game to win by skill of the driver, not likely in my world after so many that just win! I am no driver and no hot lap needed to know what wins with a bit more than an educated guess but by proven theories ever how crude! Winning 73% of three years of racing 4 states is a lot to be proud of with 3 points champs in one year! A lot of questions had to be answered for this to happen! Just keep a open mind to chasing your own tail in left-handed circles! Ill be here in and out for you guys to help if I can!!!
