I'm currently in the process of building an engine for my usra b mod and am having a couple things stump me in my ideas. One thing is the use of stock cast heads or oem replacement steel. What would be the benifit of spending the extra cash on the replacement. Also the cam. Everywhere I look days something different. Assuming a lift of .5 at 9.5 to 1 compression ive read both short and long duration Benifits and overlapping. Basically I'm trying to get some opinions on what the best duration and overlap would be for the given CR and a Holley 500cfm carm with aluminum low rise intake. It's my first build. I would like to do it right with the first $4000+

We have used most all heads but flow and vaccuum to vaporize the fuel to cause refrigeration to condense the size of it alows for more geting to the cylinder and then exspanding with the blast gives the greatest power with low compression on pump gas! Larger runners just seems pointless in some cases as it slows velosity! If it slows down it has time to warm up and exspand on the way! Pulling frost of a cast intake on a hot engine with pump gas is a trick to make happen but it can be done! Having a great cam is only part of tune as degreeing and geometry has to play fair too! I go to extremes with twice the fuel most can't even burn and timing to match! The hottest spark money can't buy to make it burn snow white! A good cam will have splits at every point of concern! The main thing is RPMs desired fitting the gears and track length to the weight of the car! There is no one thing that makes it all work together but you can always upgrde by thought and tune! Cubic inches would be the need for larger heads or valves! 202s on a .030 doesn't leave enough room at the clynder unless unshrouded! .066 has worked well for us! Not all the cooling of an engine comes from the cooling system! Check out all the cooling tips to find more horses in your build! Haven't read your head rules but lots of heads to improve with!!!
