Hi All. I am new to this forum and have an off the wall question:
I am looking at buying an old Ford street car that happens to have a 351 Cleveland dirt track motor in it with a top loader 4 speed, 9 inch rear w 3.25 gear.
The motor is older has been in a shop in storage for awhile before being installed in this car, but is supposed to contain the best parts for its time.
It has the 4V heads with a solid roller cam, an Edelbrock Torker manifold with a 1 inch riser and a big Holley. It has Mallory distributor, etc, and has a fabricated oil pan with a lot of extra volume in the front. At one point it had an oil cooler.
That is all I know about it, other than it is very highly regarded by the owner. He says that it runs fine on street gas.
Can anyone shed any light on what this motor might be like in a 3500 lb. street car? I am looking for a very fast 4 speed car, and am wondering if this will do the trick.
I had to leave, so I could not drive the car, but will have it checked out if I go for it.
Thanks!
