I had my engine rebuilt over the off season got it back put it in and every week it over heats I never had this issue with this motor at all everything it the same as B4 I'm looking for some help on where I should begin checking things to figure it out up till now the motor always ran a bit on the cool side I've done a few things I added an electric fan it it hasn't helped it seems to b ok till the first caution then the temp jumps right up to about 200 it goes down to about 190after alap or 2after the restart then it goes up to the point where I can finish the race I've checked the rad seems to b flowing good the water pump is good I put some jet in it just to try to help it a bit till I figured out the cause I've been told it could be fuel lines collapsing on fuel line was close to the header so re routed it has anyone ever had this happen to them any help I can get I'd really appreciate

I don`t know what type of pulley and fan setup you have but you would be amazed at how much slippage there is when running the heavy GM fan and v belts . The heavy fan resists engine acceleration and deceleration creating slippage. It only gets worse as the belts glaze over from slipping and age . The heavy multi blade steel fans are also huge HP draws . We ended all those cooling issues and freed up some HP by emulating the setup used on many dirt Late Models . We run a Jones serpentine belt setup with the tensioner . It drives the water pump and power steering unit. Our fan is called the "Race Fan" a light weight unit with blades made from Zytel. The Race Fan hub is designed to accept from two to six blades . This setup has made cooling issues a thing of the past . We are currently running three 17" blades on our fan hub . After a thirty lap feature this past Saturday night we were running 200 degrees . Also another thing to consider is the age of the aluminum radiator . Aluminum radiators loose cooling ability as they age. Many guys I`m told replace them at mid season . Good luck I hope this helps you solve your cooling problems.
