My suggestion would be to go to your local track where you intend to race at. Go into the pits check out the cars and ask questions. I am also building my first mini stock. I found a chevy cobalt that I intend to use. Its a lot harder finding cheep useable cars these days it took a month of searching to find the right car to work with. I wanted a solid body because I wanted the structural integrity left in the car. Then I wanted the ecotec 2.2L with a 5spd. I have my work cut out for me because the suspension is shot but the good thing is now is a good time to stiffen the entire suspension. I have started gutting the car. Now shopping for suspension items.

I've always wanted to build a Ford Escort ZX2. I had a 99 daily driver. Had a 2 liter Ztech and a 5 speed. would have been great. Also most 4cyl at my home track run Dodge Neons

We run a 93 Prelude with the H22A Blacktop D.O.H.C 2.2 V-Tec motor and it one of the fastest cars at our track. The majority of the class at our track are Honda or Acura.
