If you never lost water it didn't over heat! I would be checking my gauge or sensor location! Some aftermarket parts store water pumps have small or slag still in the ports! I find a good open GM casting with larger ports if running a reconditioned pump! Remove the back plate and if a bent wing impeller with 6 fins, cut every other one (3) out and pop rivet a circle of flat valley tin in with 6, 1/8 short stainless rivets to cover all the holes made in design of bending and the ones you made to pump more water with three biting more at slower pump speeds if wanting more horses! I have run a 75 present serpentine reduction with a 5 blade with no problems using this trick along with others to stay as cool as I can! The little horses do grow up when galloping to keep the pump at a normal rpm! 20 degrees in going from a 4 to 5 blade solid fan when you have both correct to match flow per rpm! It works like shifting gears to (pump air and water) at different speeds by design in bends of the blades and spacing variances! Once up to speed, who needs a fan?
