How do you replace the bearing in the tail housing do you have to take the shaft out of the tail and go from the inside or will it come out the end?

I have a store bought threaded puller tool or take a threaded pipe and notch for size to thread in and make a puller that screws against the shaft! a good keen angle ground punch will work if starting in close to where it joins together and once moving use larger tools to curl it out! If it is a bushing type!
