While most don't understand the actual burn factors of fuels it is different with all the factors involved in engine designs! Tune-ing fuels to fit the design and load needs of applications is horses too! If running racing fuel is needed because of burn timing forgiveness or ign. timing failure of design, gains can be made in horses! Higher octane burns slower to deliver a longer burn and needs more heat to get it going! Compression builds heat but with a cost as well as fuel cost! Any top lube added slows thing also! our 93 octane tested off the chart with only a bit of trany fluid added! I am no expert in this but running on the edge of lean you pick up on things happening as far as tune goes! Mixing fuels and top lubes for years has showed me a thing or two about burn cycles in engine designs! If you don't need it why pay the price in horses as well as money better spent on forward motion! Think in terms of grilling! Matches, match light that catches up fast but burns out faster! Regular charcoal that needs lighter fluid and soak in time before lighting or having not burned hot enough to get going or to finish the job! Both or all three works best sometimes cooking different kinds or thickness of meats at high temps or slow! Slow, fast, slow works for me in cooking and power strokes as piston speeds change to get the full effect! A little racing fuel does wonders in pump gas as does trany fluids! Jetting however changes with density of fuels as does burns to compression, engine temps, cylinder temps, exhaust temps and tune, coil voltage, indexing of plugs, ect... No one can tell which one is best until adjustments are made for each to do its best to preform as planed or matched out! Ign. timing and burn timing can only be set to match by change of the old standard settings! I run 58-60 degrees of Ign. timing, so how much octane do I have and where do I get the most piston push in this power burn stroke timing? Twice the fuel burned completely! Is it hotter than most but running cooler? Side thrust instead of down force on the crank? Adjust your fuel and find more horses!
