While most who can and some that can't have Dyno-ed engines, it to me is like having a car scaled! It can tell you what you have but getting it where you wish it to be takes time and parts in most cases! Most are pre-conceived and only tested to be correct at that point! I used to put my knee on a bumper to set cars up to handle better or an ear as to tune for more horses! The thing in question is if you want them horses now or later! Most horses really don't care, they just want to run free! Set standards in carbs and ign. systems give little thought to what ifs and can be leaving a lot to the crew chief to sort out after running a few times, if so inclined! Ranging from geometry to header tune, cam degree per gear change to air filter draw, from float level and jetting to timing change or locked to set standards of safety in engine longevity! Do you stick with what you have now in horses or re-group and re-tune per change made in getting faster? A little more fuel and timing on a curve can add a few if not there yet, where your heart desires! A simple use of top lube, air nets, header wrap, fuel or spark plug brands, or ign. spark, changes timing needs to get more out of the tune of it all! Larger or smaller carbs do little to change mixture standards to match fuel changes in actual application! Anyone with a Dyno would win every race but for preconceived ideas of standards! The only one I know is that improvement is a must to keep up with the pack, much less to out run them at any level! Doing so may require thinking out side the BLOCK!!!
