While some classes allow MSD systems, a quick check of your HEI spark can up your game of forward drive! More spark is the start of it all in motion! Keep in mind that you may need more fuel to go along with extra fire power to drive off the corner faster! Timing can also be higher with more fuel added! A cooler engine temp allows for less expansion of fuels before the bang that can be robbing needed compression of expansion after the fact of spark! This too should require more fuel to get to a happy spot of more torque in the forward motion of getting faster piston speeds to up your forward drive! Sound and distance of spark bench testing will give clues as to better or not! It should fly around the outside pins with the crackle of white lighting with just a touch of blue! 1.6 inches with no ground other than the next ungrounded pin! A tan cap, rotor, and cover is required to get it out and not jump inside or to the grounded coil! A wire upgrade is next to insure it gets there in tact! If an when your tires do not hold anymore, 150 lbs. of LLR lead and dist. weights to de-tune back to your old nag are recommended to harness control of the beast again for a car link or two! Be prepared for higher rpms and a gear change with this new found forward drive! More vacuum on top end can shut the power valve back and lean it out if not kept loaded! Never try running half throttle or lean can happen with a power valve! I never run them to be able to get timing, fire power and fuel matched by reading each sparkplug!
