Hey guys. I'm running a 350 350hp. With a low to mid cam.3 speed sag. Using 3rd gear with a 1:1 ratio. G60/15 26.5 Hoosiers. Turning will be turning around 5/5500 rpms. ,3/8 mid to dry slick track. Any suggestions on a rear gear ratio.

We never ran 3/8 tracks but the tool box may be of help with ratios! 5500 is very low for a 350 engine! 7500 would be better suited for the long pull! Other than valve springs, dropping the pickup, a extra quart of oil, oil restrictors and a good cam there is no reason a stock assembly wont stay together if idled up or holes drilled in the carb butterflies to keep vacuum from sucking a rod bolt into! We ran one 5 years winning 60+ races at 7500 before it let go! It was freshened each year but no added clearances other than .066 with .006 on the pistons, .001 on the rods and .002 on the mains leaving no need for power robing factors of bigger oil pumps, higher pressures, or having to sling all the weight of that oil off the crank! Only a hub for a balancer with a N/F crank gets rid of more weight than most do otherwise! Make sure to gear the belt drives less than one to one! With enough tricks you can go 75 under stock and gain a few extra horses! Extra any where you look even in running the engine cooler and adding more fuel and fire power!

Depending on motor, tires and suspension, you would run a 620 to as high as 583. I run a Durrance Lane Street Stock with a built 358. We run a 583. We give up a little on starts, but the track gets dry slick, so the bigger gear stops us from blowing the tires on corner exit and gives us a little more on the big end.
I you have someone to loan you the gears to test, it will save you from buying a bunch of gears. However, we run several different tracks and need a good assortment of gears. Good luck!
