Hello All,
I was just told by my crate engine builder that he can only reseal my IMCA crate engine once. I blew a head gasket and had it fixed. Now I was told I can not have it resealed again. Is this true?
Thanks in advance, Jimmy

Un less he was referring to the surfacing of the block or heads as to the tolerance standards in compression by CCs and piston to deck height for the ratios being correct I wouldn't know of any other reason!

HERE IS THE ANSWER FROM TOM WITH IMCA..... To me this kind of sucks because we had a fan go thru the radiator the blew a head gasket. so now for the whole year if we have an issue we can not reseal. So we need a backup crate or open engine. HOPE THIS HELPS.
The IMCA Crate Engine Repair seals are only offered to IMCA members and only offered to each member once per calendar year.
The GM Crate engines are very durable and cost effective if used properly. However, they can be broken. For that reason, we don't provide repair opportunities to racers who compete outside of IMCA because we do not control those rules. Additionally, racers who break crate engines are in a very small group and racers who break them repeatedly, are clearly doing something wrong. For that reason, we do not provide limitless repair opportunites. If the racer is going to break their engine repeatedly, they need to explore the claim engine option.
Thanks for your email and for racing with IMCA.
Best regards,
Tom Gutowski

I can tell you shit happens even to the best of us and money never a issue until made that way by stupid IMCA rules by people whose ideas are a bit tarnished by un tamed rules of others cheating and sliding right threw tech!!! Open engine a joke and I never would go to crate if 1000 pounds of price -- TRAIN YOUR TECK GUYS OR LOOSE A GOOD CLASS!!!
