I am in an argument with a friend of mine. We can't come to terms on the correct way to jack weight into or out of the torsion bars of a sprint car. If we can refer to the right rear......... The torsion arm? is connected from the bar to the birdcage of the right rear wheel. And the stop for that bar is on the left side. I think I'm correct.....
My friend says to put right rear weight in you have to adjust the stop that is right behind the right rear wheel (which would be connected to the left wheel torsion bar) and then also adjust the left front stop (which would control the right front bar). He says its all part of the X that controls the weight in the car.
I would think if you want to put right rear weight in the right rear, then you would adjust the stop on the left.
Who is correct? I don't care who's right or wrong. I just want to know which is the right way.

Sounds like you are depending which was the adjustment is turned! Jacking weight in and spring fighting spring is sometimes more tricky as to changing ride heights that throws it elsewhere as problems evolves! If on the ground with air involved it makes for a simple core switch rather than changing all setting with a wrong move in the right direction! The left front if kept loading the right can do more good if needing bite or control of drive thrust angles without ride height changes!!! I never worked on sprints but good theories to all moving things as to pounds- drive thrust adding pounds and control of steer!!!

Torsion bars or like wheels on a car to me-- they are not complicated as dirt! It has to be held by the adjustment as to any--- or none to adjust-- If having problems with this as to adjusting you should post what the problem you are having with the car so that someone can advise you that knows about setups and theories and not just one kind of chassis! Glad to help if I can on anything that moves!!!

Sorry Mr. flipflop, I am not having an adjustment problem. I am in an argument with my friend on the proper way to adjust a sprint car torsion bar or stop, what ever you want to call it. I think my question was pretty clear. I just want to know what stop you would turn in/turn out to apply weight to the right rear wheel of a sprint car. When viewing the car from the rear, would you turn the stop on the left? or the stop on the right?

it's called cross bar torsion arms,Sprint cars are similar to east coast modifieds. The Adjuster for the R/R Wheel is behind the LR Wheel, the Adjuster for the LR wheel is behind the R/R wheel.

I agree with rickd39. But to make your argument more fun you are both right on the rear adjustment. You can adjust either side if you want to add weight to right rear, take some out of left rear or add some to right rear. All according to witch way you crank it. = phantom309

I run a Racesaver 305....your friend is wrong....if you want to put turns in a specific corner the adjuster is on the opposite side.....the torsion bar is splined on both ends....one end goes into the arm one end goes to the adjuster....any time you add or subtract turns from the right side of the car you will be adjusting the stop nut on the left and vice versa......
