Our rules states no porting or polishing anywhere on the motor. Has any tried to powder coat the runners of the intake and the heads? I am wondering what improvement it has on airflow and such. Anyone know. I was just thinkin'.

Did I ask a question no one has ever tried before? Or is this something that no one has tested? I'm going to try it. My brother has to stuff to do it with.

Before you powder coat the inside of your intake, make sure the powder you use will be able to withstand the fuel hitting it and not flaking off
the intake has to be really clean, I would clean and then bake the intake at about 425 for an hour or so to let it out gas, then clean it again and re-bake it before powder coating
I would use a clear epoxy powder, great chemical protection and it would not be as obvious to a quick look

Yep, we have the intake soaking, then it will be glass beaded. The final prep will be steamed cleaned with a detergent then with clean water. The inspect for any left over resido. Redo if it has to. There are several powder coat that have been suggested. We have not decided which one. This could be all for not. But the thing is. We can. Besides at this level of racing. IT'S for THE FUN OF IT. And Thanks.

UM Powder Coat the ports on an Intake Manifold??? Really? WOW are you sure you really have/work on a race car. That is the worst idea I have ever heard. Unless of course you want powder coating flaking off and getting in your combustion chamber. That will cause a whole lot of problems and you certainly wouldn't have to worry about porting and polishing anymore. Yae Yae Yae do the Powder Coat the Ports, because you are worrying about polishing them. Well when the Powder Coating ruins your cylinders or gums up your rings then you wont have to worry about polishing them. It will definitely take your mind away from porting and polishing because you will be wondering WTF happened to my engine --- LMFAO

Not sure you want to do that.....I would bead blast and leave it alone......the powder coat will smooth the runners, from what i understand...you want a semi rough surface to ensure atomisation.

I'd make the whole thing as rough as I could get it. Zac21 is correct.
