I'll ask you mod guys since I race a pure/factory stock. Within the past year our division has allowed Hoosier g60 w/imca stamp. I have been running tubes in my regular DOT tires with much success ( finishing races with the tube sticking out of sidewall ) now that I have seemed notice Hoosiers are by far superior for racing purposes. The tubes seem to be less reliable. My pressures are a lot lower than I used to run, 15 all the way around, I'm thinking of ditching tubes all together thinking that the pressure that the tires seem comfortable at is a bit to low. Is anyone out there using tubes with G60 's successfully?

We never use them on the rears. Only on the fronts. The rear tires slip on the rims a little. That can pinch the tubes. Generally, we do not use tubes at all.

Makes sense, all the tires that have gone down are rears, like right after a main win and it goes down in tech, ha!

Ive been told to use talcum powder when using tubes unless the tubes are specific to Bias Ply construction. Something about the rubbing of the tubes and tire can cause problems with heat buildup.

No tubes either and run as low as 8 on the lr with no problem.

check how much pressure your tire gains with the tubes in them. now take the tubes out, start with the same pressure and see how much your pressure goes up without them, THAT WILL ANSWER YOUR QUESTION!!! also note your tire temps too!
this is what i was told to do a few years ago, threw all my tubes away after that experiment.
only place i would run a tube is the LF to salvage a new tire that got cut up

The right sides go up about 2in a heat, 5 in the main, left rear about2-3,at least when I keep air in them. I usually check tire wear over temp. It's so inconsistent with a pyro sometimes. I look for the feathered edge of the tread and more/less on one side of tire. 15 seemed to be really consistent on wear and overall grip throughout the race. My track is generally really smooth and goes slick fast and not very abrasive, wich is a plus.

Tried tubes, cost us a feature win with 2 laps left. The left rear spun and took off the valve stem. Removed the tubes and never ran them again. That was 7 years ago, we break down the tires and remove the mud and dirt from the beads. Good racing.
