New to dirt racing. Going Bomber racing. Looking for some pointers on getting the car setup for our first outing. We came from drag racing but the strips are closing and Dirt looks like so much fun. Looking for info on shocks, tires, Toe in, camber any advice greatly appreciated. We are out to have fun but want a good place to start with setup. Biggest tire we can run is 235-70R-15 and no number smaller than 70 in the second set of numerals. Aluminum wheels are not allowed.

Lesson one, get some good racing wheels! Aeros work well, if you must use stock run steel s-10 wheels, the offset it much more than other stock steelies. Type of tires, cooper cobra or Hercules are good for dirt racing and decent price in that size. Depending on the banking of you track, running stagger (less tire size on left side 225-215-205 etc) that's more of a trial-error. Good rule of thumb more stagger on left, looser you'll be. Good place to start pressure wise would be 20 or right, 15 on left, reason why 20 on right it's the sidewall is a lot higher than most racing tires, you don't want to let it fold over and lose traction. Shocks, if you must be stock appearing, Carrera (speedway motors sells them) looks very stock but has some split valve options. Pain them a stock Monroe yellow and no one will ever know. Racing springs make a big improvement. I would start 200 RR, 250 LR , 1100 RF, 900 LF, if your track is flat, I'd flop the fronts. Camber, as much positive camber in the LF as you can given your caster settings. RF 3.5 negative is a good starting point for any track banking. Watch your tire wear and adjust accordingly. I set caster at 4RF, 2LF. toe out between 1/4 to 1/2 inch out. If you can run an small block Chevy , I wold go that route. Hope this helps
