I have been having trouble lately with my mechanical fuel pumps leaking oil around the body where the screws are that you can take out to rotate the head. I have tried different brands from holly to eldenbrook and still having issue. Is there a way to keep this from happening or to fix the pumps I have? Thanks for any and all help.

I had a Holley 6 valve pump do that at the track, it was spraying oil out the weep hole in the housing. I took it apart and found a check valve and spring that had come apart. As I recall what held the check valvle and spring in the housing was a washer that was held in place by the housing hole being peened over. I re assembled it and re peened the housing and no more leak. I run the billet pumps now and have never had a problem with it.

Another word. When you reassemble the pump head, push the lever to about halfway using a piece of pipe or something of the like before snugging up the screws. This will prevent tearing the diaphragm the first time it cycles.

Yep! And be sure the front block mounting holes are plugged and not blowing the oil back around the corner on to the pump as well as clean draining in side! As light weight rods are softer, check for wear and side clearance! A block can need two even three gaskets for complete centering of design as not to damage some pumps as to instructions with pumps have said! Internal engine pressure can be a source of many leaks!
