last season, i blew my motor up. so I baught a new motor from a wissota engine builder half way through the season. it pushed oil out the valve cover breathers from day one. i tried several breathers and scotch pads in breathers and even orange shop rags inside the breathers. still pushed 1/2 to 1 quart out every night. of course the engine builder was no help, I got the motor out now and took the pistons out expecting to find a broke ring, but they all look good. anyone have any idea's?

Take a look at the inside of the valve covers where the breather tubes are. There is usually a metal plate that has a large opening on one side. That plate should be pointing toward the exhaust side of the head. If the valve cover is installed the other way, it can act like a funnel to the breathers. When I build an engine, I don't put valve seals on the exhaust valves and I don't get anything like the oil useage you have. So, I don't think valve seals are the problem. Keep us posted on what you find out, so we don't wind up with the same problem.

What kinda leak down numbers did you have? Maybe rings were not seated properly causing blow by?

Worn exhaust valve guides lets exhaust push right on by! The right cover has to be blocked! Oil restrictors in the back of the block will help keep it down stairs! Use of thin oils with-out racing extras don't stay well hidden! Number one is the covers! Check for egg shape or bore marks in the cylinders!
