Our street stock rules allow two different engine packages.
Package A - No roller cams. Must pull 15 inches of vacuum at 1000 rpm or .480 max. lift at rocker arm. Any cast iron head 72cc minimum No porting, polishing or gasket matching. Roller tip rockers are allowed, no full roller rockers. Holley 4412 carb only. Must meet factory specs. If you run a stock intake you are allowed to run an unaltered GM quadrajet carb. No carb spacers allowed only a 1 inch adapter. Flat top pistons only, must use steel connecting rods, crankshafts can be steel but must be stock stroke. 362 cubic inch max. IF YOU RUN PACKAGE "A" YOU'RE ALLOWED TO RUN 8 OR 10 INCH WIDE WHEELS. YOU CAN RUN ANY DIRT BOSS, ASPHALT TAKEOFF OR G60 TIRE. NOTE: IF YOU RUN A QJET CARB YOU MUST RUN ON 8 INCH WHEELS WITH G60 TIRE OR ASPHALT TAKEOFFS.
Package B - No roller cams. Any stock OEM cast iron cylinder head with a min. of 62 cc chamber, must be straight plug. Any aftermarket cast iron cylinder head with a min. of 72 cc chamber. .550 max cam lift. Holley 4412 with factory specs only. No carb spacers allowed only a 1 inch adapter. Flat top pistons only, must use steel connecting rods, crankshafts can be steel but must be stock stroke. Full Roller Rockers are allowed. 362 cubic inch max. IF YOU RUN PACKAGE "B" YOU CAN ONLY RUN 8 INCH WHEELS. YOU CAN RUN ONLY G60 TIRES OR ASPHALT PULLOFFS.
Here is my question. I have a package A engine ready and to go, but is running 10" wheels and tires worth loosing the compression and bigger cam? I ask because I hear it takes alot to turn those big wheels/tires. I was planning on running the 4412 with 10" wheels and dirt boss tires but I could go with a quadrajet and run 8" wheels and 10" aspahlt pull offs.
The car is a nova and weighs 3100lbs.
