I know this has been gone over before but I'm old and pictures work better for me. Please visualize setting in a chair with tire between your knees looking down at the top. 12 oclock is front of car and 6 is rear. Which pattern (A,B,C,D) is best for RF, LF, RR, LR. I really need help on this as my brain is loosing a grip on this subject! Thanks

I'd use B for the fronts and D for the rears. B will give you thrust toward the inside of the track. D will give less side thrust but more forward bite.

Thanks. That was my theory also. Just wanted others opinion as B is what I used on my old modified (like a sprint car) back in the 70s but I have seen A used on latemodel R.F. D seems to be what most sprint cars run now. B.T.W. your user name in my club would mean you win a lot. Previous feature winner starts on the tail.

For me, it just means I don't want to get run over...

Most tracks have good clay or gumbo down here, but we have had tracks that had a high sand content and never took rubber! A hard tire with a tractor tread design would allow us enough traction to lift the Lt. Ft. wheel again! If tire rule in place but allows grooving, the Lt rear needs twice what the right side does to keep the heat close as to work the same or 8 laps into the race you may develop a push coming off the corner! As a rule of thumb it is good to match compounds of Lt. rear and Rt. front as not to get the same push off the corner also! Grooving differently allows for different heat and cooling that changes your pressures and compound when stuck with tire rules! All things considered a tire rule is a good thing with a strong arm and a clothes pen! A super hot gun makes this job easier but just as smelly! Age and compound plus heat varies with brands of tires also! A temp gun and a meter is a good investment when you get to these factors!
