Looking for opinions, weather or not to change. Currently use a cast iron high rise intake. The rules now allow the Edelbrock 2101 aluminum. Performance vs weight.

Weight is not a factor as much as flow! If you intake gets cold on a hot engine under the carb. when 2500 for 2 minutes the aluminum would help, if not I would consider other options as to advancing the cam or a new one! A 110 lobe separation helps keep exhaust from heating fuel mixtures and increases vacuum and helps compression ratios doing their job! I have in past years been able to pull frost on my fingers to show these effects using pump gas on a .066 350 engine! When cooling the air it takes more fuel and timing to get it burning at the right burn timing but yields great results in horse power! While aluminum dissipates heat faster it can also attract it in the process causing a lean effect slowing down flow enough to even vapor lock and blow a engine! If you in-counter a blown chevy engine with problems of number 3cyl. this is the case in point as it runs hottest!
