Hi. I am new to this form and to dirt track. But I would like to get in to it and I know where a grand marquis is for cheap so I was wondering if it would work for dirt track. Thanks

Getting in, any can be made to work but rules in classes do apply first! GM is a more versatile and cost is more friendly! Choice of first car that can be used in many classes is better! Roll cages and building a car is one thing, doing all the work needed is another with a shop and help but most fun to me as it never stops! A used, built car is sometimes best to speed getting to the track! More info from your local track and the top 10 models out there in the class of choice will give a better answer!

All my post are most basic in how things work! these rules apply to motion of springs shocks and steer there in! Learning why first will help you more down the track! Ask anything not clear to you as others have trouble understanding with preconceived set-ups and advice with lack of info applied! Try searches on basic terms to get them straight first as to communicating facts of interest!!! You can start going faster now by learning why things have a certain order to them!

grand marquis' are ok i used to run one in an enduro class, it handled decent and wasn't hard to setup but it was alot heavier than the monte carlo's and nova's i was running against, but i can't complain it took me to 2 top 10's and 2 top 5's right now i have a 79 2 dr. ltd and with me in the the car it weighs right at 4000 lbs.

We started out with a Nova that was heavier than most but did some trimming the 2nd and 3 year before scaling down to be closer to the rest as the rules went lighter! Weight never seemed to be much of a factor other than the gaining of traction by rear percent as we had to only add more to win! When in mods a weight rule of 40 pounds up front wasn't much of a penalty when not trying to lift the left ft. or rear by hanging it on the cross!
