direct drive powerglide, someone had previously used a combination of holley jet in the valve body, and small hole in reverse piston to bleed off reverse pressure. I had a local tranny shop help me freshen it and they errantly put a standard, non drilled reverse piston in it. I try to go into reverse now and it kills engine, guy at tranny shop suggested opening hole in holley jet up to about .100", and try it again. I did so, and it still killed engine when I pulled it into reverse, do i need to open jet up bigger than .100"? to make it work, any ideas would be appreciated, thanks, Jamie

Use .125 drill bit [ 1/8 ] try it, still stalls go one size bigger on the drill bit. Use a caliper a size each drill bit. If it's a letter drill bit that's one size bigger, use it. The reverse steels and clutch's should have .100-.125 play. The Drive drum should have at least .100 gap or play. Remember more gap it will take longer to engage in reverse.

A common problem every time you rebuild! So many variables in pumps and pressures! Be sure to warm it up first and type F fluid is thicker if you are using type 3 and go too far!
