I'm new to dirt racing. I used to oval asphalt race, but it's been a while. The track is a 1/3 medium bank dirt track. I'm running a 1977 El camino (I know...wth? Lol) that with driver is 145 pounds too light per rules. Left percent is 52, cross is 54, not sure about rear. I'm wondering where I want to add the weight? High or low, left or right? What's a good baseline setup? We can use racing springs, and shims. Suspension has to be mostly stock. Hoping for feedback on a baseline setup...

Not sure i can help much. I have the opposite problem. My cars 450lbs over with me in it. But I'm running a 75 malibu on a 1/4 mi medium banked track. I typically run 52-53% left and 53-54% rear. More rear when it dries out. Cross is only 49-50% and around 90lbs of bite. Springs are 1000lb rf, 900lf, 200lr and 175rr. I adjust with air pressure at the track. Corners like its on rails. Just cant get off the corners due to too high of a final gear. So I get out run down the straights. If the track goes dry slick that's when she really handles good.

You really need to know the rear % before you add the weight. If it's close to where you want it I would put the weight as central on the chassis as possible. As for the front bouncing, you may need to play with the shock valving numbers. Shocks are black magic to me. Terminator and jet chassis websites have set-up manuals on them. They're a bit dated. But might get you close.
