Anyone ever set the engine back in metric monte carlo a couple, few inches? If so how do you go about it with the firewall? I have sbc with headers that are tight against the firewall already. And, I want to remove power brake booster and just have master cyclinder only. How can I do this at low cost? I have heard of some guys making some sort of adapter.

You will have to move the firewall back and also raise the center floorboard for tranny clearance. They make an offset motor mount that will move motor back an inch. You will also have to cut out frame to make room for fuel pump.

From what I hear from the guys who have done it there is little difference. Maybe 1-2% weight % difference.

In our super stock the engine is mounted several inches back. We had to notch out the firewall and make a bubble with sheetmetal to clear the distributor. As Cuzzn pointed out, bringing the engine back moves the fuel pump much closer to the frame rail. We run a piston style pump that is much slimmer than the stock diaphragm design, and it just barely clears the frame rail.

Our track said thay will start measuring engine setback the sameway they do it on the Mods. Back of moter to center of axle. Problem is no one knows what that is on all the cars. Monte,Camaro,Nova. Anybody have one that the engine is in stock location that thay could measure?
