What size battery cables do you guys run?
Scenario 1: Car will have battery mounted on firewall, Ford starter solenoid on firewall, and a master kill switch by driver.
Scenario 2: Car has battery mounted in trunk, Ford starter solenoid on firewall.
I have read anything from #4 to 1/0 and larger, depending on who you want to believe online.
What do you run?
Thanks!

I use #4 welding leed for battery cables. Battery mounted in the rear of the car. Never have had any problems.

Yep, just wired my new car and used #4 from battery in back to the bat master and then to the solinoid and down to starter. Cant see why you would need 1/0?
Dave.

yep , useing a welding lead. short and fat are good when it comes to wires. but I always heard to never run the batt in the trunk, or atleast not behind the rear axle.

It's ballast. Mount it where it is needed. If in the trunk, cover it.

I've used welding cable and mounted in the trunk for a long time with no problem. I mount mine as close to rear end as possible. Like confused said, it ballast. Now i took the ballast one step farther for this season, I made my battery mount adjustable. From side to side the full width of the car I can adjust the battery where the weight is needed more. I might have over engineered it, but why not give other drivers something to run to the officials and question lol.

I understood that any weight past the rear has a pengelm (sp?) effect in the turns ?

That is true. You want weight just above the rear end. If you were to put it as far back as you can in trunk,it would cause a pendulum affect. Can cause erratic handling.

Mine is mount just above the rear end. You nwant your ballast low, but its better above there rearend then having it farther back. And being mine is adjustable from right to left there more advantage mounting it there then a disadvantage.

We use 2/0 wire for our battery cable. I know it is overkill, but it is just really cool. Our starter has very little pull down when starting as the big wire we use provides very little resistance. I use the fact that we don't run an alternator as justification that we need that big of a wire.
