Question: My LR Inner wheel plate keeps getting chewed up by the brake caliper. I use a inner plate from Speedway and it clears to start with but doesnt take long before the caliper is rubbing, then rubs through. The caliper is centered on the bracket and I run a brake floater So does anyone use a wheel plate that has a sharper radius and seems to give a little more clearance? I know these Speedway plates arent the best quality, just trying to figure out what brand to try next?

If you are talking about the inner mud plug, a friend of runs the ones from Day Motorsports. He hasn't had any problems with them. Just make sure it is the correct offset to match the wheel.

Something is flexing more than it should because the caliper pulls away from the wheel when the brakes are applied. The floater bracket may be too weak and twisting or pulling in.

Way back when (like last year) I got this good idea to use air pressure to hold the caliper in position on the rotor while I tacked the brake bracket on the new housing. After disassembly, finish welding, reassembly and bleeding I realized I hadn't left enough room for the caliper to float on the bracket and it caused all kind problems getting everything to work properly including the bracket flexing quite a lot. I ended up cutting off everything and placing the appropriate amount of spacers between the bracket and caliper to correct the problem. My car has at least 1/2" clearance between the brake bracket and inner mud plug using speedway's 2" offset inner mud plug so I'd say either the bracket is on wrong like I did above or the wrong offset inner mud plug. Perhaps a really loose LR floater hub loose?

We use Wehrs Machine Brackets, so they aren't flexing, but I did get a look at the Aero inner mud plug last night at the track and it has a way sharper radius on the plate than the speedway plate does, so Im going to try that one. Not much room with a 2" offset so every little bit helps.
