in trying to get some more rear % on my camaro within my rules(mabey a little bending). basic rules are no extra material on rear hoop, no lead, no lowering blocks, no weight jacks of any kind. right now im at 47.8% rear. im building a new car for next year and looking for a few ideas to help increase rear%.im considering getting new landrum leafs for "asphalt" wich have a 5 in arch, where dirt leaves are 6.5, afcos are 6 3/8. not sure of the pro's/cons. one thing i have noticed is the car rakes forward from landrums and using 12 in front springs. any ideas or advice is much appreciated!

use 1 1/2" solid round bar or schedule 80 pipe for everything behind the driver...

These are all good ideas, only problem is it has to pass the "Klink" test. They will tap the pipe in trunk and if it goes "thud" it DQ time, I have though of putting lead shot in pipe, think it will pass the Klink test?

Do they test the frame or just the roll cage?
Try to get more weight off the front, will help rear %.

there's a good one, cut open frame stick a hunk of lead in the frame rail, weld it back up and spray some undercoat with dirt, that might work. we have a decent balance of strength to weight in the front hoop, aluminum hood, aluminum intake, water pump. and try to pull back subframe as much as we can

Lots of ways to get weight off the front end. Delphi 600 series steering box (-5 lbs) get those Camaro calipers off and put some metric calipers with the Intermediate spindle to metric caliper brackets from speedway (-12 lbs) I always liked those 74-77 Alum front bumpers, strong as hell.

yes, i can agree with you on the bumpers, i have been using the aluminum rear bumper seems to be much stronger than the fronts, i have race tested this haha. i do have the light steering box and aftermarket KRC power steering, alu water pump, rad, unfortunately i cant run the bracket to run metric calipers. our rules disallow this. have taken a ton of dirt and grime from the subframe and control arms. probably took 15 lb out of the front just bringing it down to metal.

If all else fails throw some dirt in the back. Ive heard of people shoveling it in to get rear weight up. If they ask you tell them its a build up from past races.

I've done that, LOL Back in the day, I even threw a full toolbox back by the cell after the tech guy looked at the car. Now the trick is this, when you come off the track before you scale, have your tires and jack setting there, like your were ready to change a tire if it was flat. Open the trunk area and throw the jack in, then close the trunk and throw a couple tires on the trunk lid like your carrying them back to your pits. When you roll up to the scales, say hey weight a min, while I get these tires and jack. They never catch that you didnt just throw the tool box in also. Ya had some with that one a time or two. LOL.
