I plan on entering a hornet race, but ive never done anything like this before. I have a bit of technical back round. Very comfortable wih welding and whatnot. I just want to make sure i get everything perfect so i dont get sent watching from the stands on raceday. So some thing i need are a 4 point roll cage. Is there a generic layout for this? A base template i should go off of. I also need a door triangle or window net i guess? And a few small bars on the windshield. Are there any prewelded packages i can buy or what?? Thanks guys.

Not sure what type of car you are working on but there are generic kits avail from several companies. Here is a link to CSC. You can give them a call and see if they make a kit that will work for you. www.cscracing.com/roll-cage-kits

I don't know of any "pre welded" cages on the market and if you're not an experienced welder a roll cage is not the place to learn. Your life will depend on those welds - literally! CSC builds some of the best cage kits, but they come as a bunch of prebent and prenotched tubing. You might be better off buying a used hornet that's already passed tech - it might even be cheaper. Almost any hornet is going to be a uni-body construction car - I can't think of any that wouldn't be. Which means you are going to have to attach the cage to a sheet metal chassis. Some tracks require steel plates (sometimes on both sides) to attach the cage to the uni-body. talk to the tech inspector and to the hornet drivers and get their advice and take a look at their cages.
