Has anyone noticed that their power steering gear box gets hot? Ive never noticed it before but this past year we were spraying off the radiator and some water hit the gear box and it sizzled. so we sprayed a little more on it and it sizzled (evaporated) it was THAT hot. Power steering works flawlessly. So I guess I never realized I had a problem. And it never did give me a problem all year but just weird that it is getting so hot.. Whats your input on it?

My power steering fluid temps runs about 225 after a feature race. I use KRC everything.

I run so much reduction and work on the relief valve as to have none at idle! Cool as can be with may-be three more horses on top of the pile! Never use trany fluid as power-steering fluid as it is most flammable if a leak happens much less a blown line! I use 50 sae racing oil with my modifications! No problems with systems!

225 is really kind of warm. So sounds like my issue isnt really much of an issue more of just "how it is" Just never noticed something like this before..

Rpms and pressure causing to bypass and heat up! The loss of horse-power in this is worth fixing! A across the board reduction of all driven weight and pump and fan drag can be easy horses for the money! Even aluminum pulleys can be heavier than stock!

I called PSC.. They pretty much just said we are working the boxes so much that its no surprise they have heat.. He said i could run a cooler and recomended running a better fluid. (royal purple or some other brand they sell)

Ck you pulley ratios! It should have a reduction as for the rpms we turn! If aftermarket pump with smaller pulley it may be over driven by a stock or older large aluminum pulleys!

I would drain and fill with a quality fluid and go race.

Even stock, runs a cooler if you need less rear percent and no added horses, a larger volume to cool! I only got burned once to realize the positive aspects of the situation! A fire hazard as well as driver safety issue at best! You only have to see it happen once to believe this to be true!
