While a checker may be the best way for some, mine says I would need a stretcher to get there!!! You would die trying to make a length tester work! I believe closer to the pivot angle of a negative side gives a quicker ratio of opening as to flow starting at .050 is to cam specs happens sooner as ramp speed starts and ends to give a roller cam effect, as does the 1.6 to a 1.5 ratio rocker! This does change all cam specs in this process at the valve and can be even more tricky with different and varying valve stem installed heights! Degree of a cam at the valve on each cylinder at .020 and .050 is a long drawn out thing and a margin of error is always there with core shift and lifter angles of adjustments on hydraulic in mind! Top or bottom does change specs at the valve by changing push rod angles and lengths needed! We do take a lot of things for granted with horses just laying around waiting on us to saddle up and ride them into the ground! When it is a matter of cheap horses, time can pay off! While so much is different per cylinder,( heat factors changing flow and burn rates of fuels) we can only look at the oil on the threads on plugs, index or gap them differently to tell what is happening per cylinder after a few laps! Gaining or loosing lift doesn't matter so much on the top side of plenty as to the evenness of the ending affecting the starting process of stroke timing to get the most out of your burn! By holding the fuel in a vacuum state as long as you can to keep it cold with a cooler engine temp, leaving more to expand when compression heat makes it happen with the valves closed, then and only then can your compression of the blast go to extremes easily with more air and fuel trapped to use all the stroke intended with out stroking, extra turning weight, more drag of compression, and expense of it all with no cubic inches of friction gained! A short stroke with a longer gain that zings to the front to win! Having 5 different lengths of push rods and a few adjustable ones will ease this process to get you there along with the largest degree wheel you can find and a good digital dial indicator! You had all winter and what did you do? Hunt or go ice fishing, I just set by my fire and plan to cut more wood to make a hotter and longer burn! If you have got a well thought plan to gain horses, it is best put to the trophy test! I use a push rod Checkered Flag to tell if mine is correct!
