Hard up I have taken a .040 350 with 3 different kinds of pistons CC-ed by me 13.5/1 .030 and 5 different kinds of rods polished and weighed, some floating and pin grinding to match, a crank blown up with dents that had to be filed and polished by me with shimmed bearings to build a late season motor on a out of town track after our local season closed! Up a class and was a smoker only when first cranked with .060 used rings filed to fit! Junk heads, tall truck block and used thick gaskets to get the compression back down to turn 8300! It was fast with a roller cam out of the trash, filled and sanded! Not even a new pan or intake gasket was used but plenty of RTV used! It ran as a spare after 5 top threes in a limited late class with our home built 2468 pound hobby car! The only one in that class! Three people borrowed it our next season while their good motor was back in the shop! It blew up on us as it had been 3 years to the wind but what's a week of hands on prepping when broke! The block took a sleeve and lived to race again at .066 to win! We use what we have to get to the front legally out classed or not! Good luck with your build! New parts sometimes have to learn to play well with others before showing their true colors and getting along!
