It does sound a little odd but it shouldn't have to be that way! Over steer in the rear or loose and sliding around the turn seems to be more the way it is done by having to keep up with the rear! Doing it that way puts you at your on timing mercies as well as the tracks conditions and those close around you! Being able to steer left or right while on or off the throttle with out needing extra room for the rear to come around or any kind of transitions to deal with has its benefits in traffic. Keeping your car straighter through the turns is faster, even coasting at top speeds. Having to set one down and regroup to turn with the rear hike and extreme angles under throttle takes quite a bit of time and skill while in traffic! If another car is holding tight on your right rear or left front and you have no room to kick it right in the rear to turn or you can't turn left to hike or if just having to lift if someone is in front of you is slow or braking, can become a slowing problem that has to be made up with extra horses and a heavier foot! Allowing a car to do as it should and not having it to be forced into it or coached seemed a bit easier to win with for us! Not quite the hand full to drive as most and smoother turns makes for easier set-up changes to get it right! Once there and working great, you will not need to make all the little changes every week or track to track to win unless you need to be faster at times! Having a car that most any driver can win with does seem a bit over the top but it took years of different drivers, tracks and wins to perfect and prove it to be true! Faster times when hot-lapping with no one in your way and being able to run where you want, is a bit different than traffic and going to the front to be able to do this! I have had lots of winning drivers tell me that there set-up had to run a line to work properly or was hell in traffic to drive! Making it look so easy and winning, you do make a few friends through the years once they grasp the concept and win a few races for themselves but the masses hate your guts and think you are cheating in some way as no one car should win so much! They have told me that they are cheating every way they know how and can't catch us, so they figure we are cheaters too! Being checked every week for hours with winning so much is a drag, when nothing is being done about the ones cheating and being passed right on through tech and get to go home early! A lot of work to put it back right after tear-downs and it does get old like me! Some tech guys never seem to give up looking for your edge! It is not all in the motor as some think! A good seasoned driver does help but they can only do what the car and track allows them to do! Run with the crowd or do some thinking for your-self, do your own homework and go faster with any chassis and the right set up for you! While none are ever simple, some are more drivable and faster when staying straighter around the turn! Coming off straighter gives longer straight-ways for more speed without the distance of running up top or the looseness of rear steer staying while in the throttle needed to run the bottom! Just consider all of your options while turning right and wanting to go left when in the throttle going in the corner and down the straights!
