While a cam's lobe centers are preset, the overlap is not at the valve! Geometry and clearances can change it all at the valve at .020 or .050 lift where flow matters most! Keeping on top the valve with roller tips sometimes gives little room to play but with stock type rockers you have room to play a bit more! Shorter push rods quickens things on two angles of increased movement! 1.6 rockers compared to 1.5 in quickness only amplifies this factor even more, so if push rod head clearance allows go for it! Extra valve travel of .025-.035 can be gained if piston to valve clearance allows with 1.6 rockers! The extra lift is nothing to a big cam or big valve engine so much but the change in over lap getting it done quicker gets rid of undesired factors as put to good use in roller cam designs! The effects are the same as to getting more quicker and better numbers at the valves! On a hydraulic or solid cam, improvement your mom didn't tell you about in indexing rockers for a better cam design without changing or re-degree-ing your camshaft, but you have improved flow by changing numbers at the valves! No push rod length tester does this for you! More angle, more movement faster and quicker response in the flow process on both ends where over-lap kills power! Be prepared to re-time and re-jet to new horses' needs! Even a gear change when faster and topping out at the flag-stand!

Does anyone know what your actual exhaust closing number is! Have you tried shorter push rods in geometry instead of using a push rod checker to speed the ratio up on the bottom end of movement! Some have little choice in the matter of staying on top of the valves but when possible it can change settings at .020 or .050 lift where it matters most! Ratio is in question with swing, but being closer to the stud with more direct push at the valve seems to be an advantage towards faster numbers! I get roller cam effects form geometry in doing so with less reversion to deal with! Better low end torque with larger cams that still has the vacuum to keep flow happy! If you build your own, take the time this winter to check it out as part of your degree process! Better splits can get both valves to a better point for horses with a wider torque band! With hydraulics it can be as simple as adjusting off the bottom dry instead of at the top! Solids has more room to play with splits and clearances but don't forget it changes degree in the process! BE WARE OF EXTRA VACUUM IN TORQUE AND KEEP IT IDLED UP OR IT WILL PULL THINGS APART INSIDE WHEN LIFTING!!!

Ever wonder why you loose torque at the loss of vacuum if it is not some how helping to move the pistons upwards on the intake side and the final burning before the exhaust valve opens using the velocity to draw them upwards? If more vacuum dwell is spent on more cylinders in either cycle than the one being compressed it would make more sense to me being able to obtain so many extra horses so easily by so many factors involving vacuum and exhaust timing at the valves! Vacuum is a bit stronger than pressure the last time I checked!!!

Things are not always as they seem until tested at the track! Winning so much said more than most wanted to hear about! No one that I know of ever got what I was talking about either! Still today people would rather think I cheated than believe the truth about the world around them being more technical than once thought! Certain standards in the past have slipped my mind to make more room for forethought! It may be defined by science in different terms but as long as it builds more vacuum, torque and horses to win, I will go with it however I got there!!! No set pattern in getting it done on any engine, cam, or motor combo! Just the use of good ole common sense to tie things together for a better total good! It always ran as if we were cheating but be assured it was just there for the taking legally with no high dollar parts used!
