Has anyone ever reclipped a metric with a better front end like something from a camaro or something else? My car is needing a new clip and since I would have to do the work any ways I might as well put on a better clip if possible.

I never had a problem with a stock metric but my set-up doesn't nose hard or hike to win! It only rolls to a balanced level in the turn so that all things are in a good working range! I would think it to be heavier up front as durability goes but have replaced more Camaro parts and clips than metric! I have changed more ft. ends back to stock than away from working correctly with my set-up but that's on my getting my set-up to work! Our many mods and limited cars that won so much were built stock by choice for us! Most changed all they could to cheat, nose and hike even more to win! We never had to!

So what are the changes I can make to the stock front suspension to make everything work better?

Tire rules in different classes can use the extra room if needing to clear the frame with larger tires with a Camaro clip! Part of my change up on my set-up was to eliminate the need to turn the steering very much to keep things from bottoming and tires rubbing the frame! The added caster made it react with-out having to turn so much but moved the tire farther back to have to deal with! We had to hunt and trade to keep smaller tires for our fronts to clear if needed! Staying clear of the packs and protecting the car was and is a must in racing with any strength of parts! The drivability helped to stay out of most situations to be there later to win with out extra parts needed but if needed stock was easier had on hand or on the road or at the track! Sometimes we were glad something gave a bit to cushion the lick and saved the driver and chassis! You better make plenty of custom parts for replacements and keep patterns! Another reason we went back to stock, every new car was different with needs! Running three cars and classes with all the same ft. end parts was easier! Barrowing from Peter to run Paul's race was quite common as a last resort in parts!

The camaro clips are wider then the metric cars and along with that comes larger rotors and brake calipers. I've seen it done before but I've never tackled the project. I do know the front geometry on a Camaro is by far better then that of a metric chassis.

I do know the front geometry on a Camaro is by far better then that of a metric chassis. I never had a problem with any front end by leaning my chassis left and letting it roll to level out! Its the caster that makes it handle, kind-of a amplified king pin inclination in the swing of things!
