The warning says it is designed to absorb impact. The lighter the material used to make the bar, the more likely it is to bend on impact. You will have to decide what is too light. I would rather replace the j-bar than an axle tube. If this one doesn't float your boat, Southwest Speed and UB Machine make heavier versions.

Performance Bodies sells a pretty basic J Bar that's adjustable. It's all I run. I have about 5 of them that I've accumulated over the years. I've bent one, and broke the heim on the pinion side. They can be repaired if this happens. Southwest Speed sells the same style of bar, as does TWM.

Let me reword my question. I already have one I've had for many years and as many wrecks. It's help up great how ever its solid and super heavy so I'm looking for a lighter version, adjustable, that not so light it's going to bend when it shouldn't. Any body know of a quality lightweight version?

I've never tried to lighten up my J bar, but I'm sure they are out there. If yours is solid, the Performance Bodies or Southwest Speed bar would be lighter.

A loss of rear percent and durability! No gain in static rear weight loss! Ran them all to only watch them go south! Any adjustment would require 20 more else where to be most productive if correct to start with! They are a bit touchy!

I run the AllStar Performance Adjustable J bar. Its hollow but thicked walled. It takes a beating and doent bend easily, but you can bend it.

This lower one is tuff as we crashed the slider square tube time and time again but it just bolted in too and was a quick fix. I loved the quick length adjuster with coarse and fine threads, that is a real time saver not having to disconnect the bar ends to adjust! You will need such a slider and stronger bolts as to not shear or bend your chassis bars with this stronger j-bar! One of the ills of racing! Grade five may give with out shearing better, not being tempered so as to snapping! You best carry extras of both!

Hey Mr Hobbs, its great to see ya posting!!
I use the lower of those two BSB bars you posted. The only thing I want to mention about that lower bar, is your heim (sp) where it mounts to the pinion bracket is recessed into that mount in such a way that you have to be a bit careful on the clearance to your pinion bracket as well as your bolt, to make certain you have enough clearance and it doesnt bind. Other than that Ive ran that J bar for years, and it holds up great when its needed, and bends when it needs to, saving chassis damage.
Are you doing the Modified thing this year Jimmy or Sprint Car?
