New to the dirt track racing. Why can one racer run a glide with a normal converter and 3.55 rear gear and another racer run a glide with a dummy converter and a 6.50 rear gear and nearly run side by side. This is hobby stock class. Racer with dummy converter runs a 9 inch and racer 2 run a gm rear gear. Can anyone explain to me how this works

With Different gears- engines - cams- ect... and even handling issues - can even out the field as far as running side by side! Some cheat all they know how and can afford and sill are no faster than our stock parts cars with the better tune and handling-- a seasoned driver helps if wanting to win!!! Many ways to build a glide to make it more race worthy and a 9 inch even floated never helped us a bit as to wins! I prefer the split as to torque applied with ratios to add a bit of load reduction of less weight applied!

As long as the final ratio is the same, they will run equal lap times. Either running all the gear in the rear end or a combination of trans and rear end, they should run equal speeds.
