I am new to dirt forum and wanted to post a question to the many members out there ? I have a impala frame dirtcar with stock rear trailing arms wondering what others that have big cars are using for trailing arm angles uppers and lowers ?? this car uses a ford rear end with stock length arms in stock location . We run on a 1/4 mile low banked track that gets slick at feature time . I need help with forward and side bite in the car any help with angles or suggestions would be appreciated greatly .

Not many people run them AND can change the rear end bracket locations, around here they are stock rear end only.
Are you running factory bushings in your arms? I wouldn't think you can change the arm angles too much without the rear end binding (could be wrong though).

Thanks for the post i run the urethane bushings in them and i have ground the sides of the bushings to give them some side clearance to eliminate the binding or hoping too eliminate it . i am running against a bunch of metric chassis in my area . and hoping to get this car competitive against them but need to get some more side and forward bite in the car come feature time .

You need help with forward bite and side bite right? So what springs are you running and what are your weight %'s? How about shocks? Where is your weight mounted in the car? Fuel cell, battery? With some additional information we might be able to get you where you want to be.

Well this weekend the car was better than it has been so far . But i went back with a more conventional setup under it very similar to a pavement setup . I currently have a 250 left rear and a 175 rr in the car with 52 % rear i cranked up the cross weight on the scales it seemed to help for the heat race and we cranked a little more in it for the feature the car was deff better . going to try a front spring change this week i have been running a 1000 lf and 900 rf i think i will swap them back to try and tighten the car off the corner a little more . also i had raised the fuel cell up in the car this spring and i wonder now if it is too high for a slick set up ? thanks for the help guys we are getting there

I would swap the front springs. Dont know if I like the 75lb slpit in the back. I like to keep it 25lb. Dont be scared of the cross. As you go up you may find you need aditional stagger to get through the center, but the race is won off the corner and that bite is gona help. Can you get more rear%? Dave

Thanks guys i was going to make some additional changes this week possibly switch the front springs back to the 1000 rf and 900 lf and was considering a spring change in the rear also . I will look to see if i can get anymore rear % but at this point i may have to run heavy to get it we have to be 3200 after the feature and i am getting close to 3320 or so on the scales at 52 % rear .

One other question to Dave i hear and read alot about keeping the spring split close in the back so if i am running a 250 lr would i need to run a heavier rr spring to close the split ? I guess my fear is that the stiffer rr spring would get me back to a loose racecar . my rear springs are lr 250 and rr 175 would you raise the right rear to close the split or lower the lr to close the split ? thanks for any input and advice guys it really helps to have people out there that are willing to share what has worked or not worked for them .
